Chloris Geospatial Inc., a space technology company using Earth Observation data and machine-learning to produce natural capital data and insights, and the Ecosystem Restoration Standard (ERS), which certifies restoration projects for the voluntary carbon market, are announcing their partnership to scale high-quality ecosystem restoration projects globally.
The Ecosystem Restoration Standard certifies ecosystem restoration projects on the carbon markets. Through its leading-edge certification, ERS enables market access for ecosystem restoration projects, which have historically been under-certified. Currently, only 3% of carbon credits are issued from reforestation efforts.
ERS has selected Chloris Geospatial as its monitoring partner, following a thorough benchmarking exercise to compare above-ground biomass data providers against a high-quality benchmark dataset.
Thibault Sorret, CEO of ERS said: “By partnering with Chloris Geospatial, we ensure precise determination of carbon stock and the CO2 sequestration capacity in the project area. Our collaboration with Chloris Geospatial enables us to enhance our project assessments, yielding more precise and comprehensive results. This aligns with our commitment to environmental and carbon assessment excellence as we work towards a greener and more sustainable future.”
Marco Albani, CEO of Chloris Geospatial said: “The innovative certification model that ERS is championing is poised to bring more trust, integrity and funding to high-quality restoration projects around the world. Chloris Geospatial is delighted to partner with ERS and bring our expertise in above-ground biomass and forest growth monitoring into the certification process for the Restoration Units that ERS certified projects issue.”

About ERS
The Ecosystem Restoration Standard is a certification for nature-based restoration projects on the Voluntary Carbon Markets. It is designed to empower restoration efforts that combat climate change, uplift biodiversity, and improve livelihoods.
By integrating next-generation dMRV (Digital Monitoring, Reporting & Verification) into the Standard we are able to continuously track progress across multiple baselines, providing greater traceability and transparency for project developers and buyers.
